CD-ROM contains photographs from Sonny Jones' second tour of duty in Vietnam, 1969-1970; primarily taken in Binh Dinh, Pleiku and Phu Bon provinces. Paper copy and CD copy of Sony Jones Recollections from his two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army in 1965 and 1969. Also a copy of Sonny Jones' DD-214 documents his service in the United States Army.
Biographical / Historical
Sonny Jones was born December 15, 1940. He volunteered for the United States Army through the ROTC program November 20, 1963. Jones was commissioned an officer and entered the Army Quartermaster Corps. He served in the Army for fifteen years with two of those years in Southeast Asia. Jones was assigned to many units throughout his military career including 34th Quartermaster Battalion, 59th Quartermaster Company, MACV Team 8 and 31, Readiness Group Selfridge, 709th MP Battalion, and HQ V COSCOM. While in Vietnam, he held the positions of Platoon Leader during his first tour and as a military advisor during his second tour. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, Jones received a Bronze Star. After his discharge in 1979 at the rank of Captain, he continued to work with the Department of the Army as a civilian. Jones is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
