Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately a quarter of a linear foot of materials documenting Lance Corporal Robert Crabb's USMC service with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marines, 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam from December 1967 to October 1968. The materials include soil from Vietnam; electronic media; images; poetry; personal narratives; command chronologies; articles and clippings; website printouts; memos and correspondence; casualty lists; award citations; service records; and statements. The materials are dated predominately 1967-1969 and 1995-2009.

Biographical / Historical

Born in 1947 in San Marcos, Texas, Robert Crabb volunteered for the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served for almost three (3) years. After training, he was assigned to G2/26 MN, 3rd Marine Division and held the rank of E3. He saw combat action in various engagements and earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations including the Purple Heart before being discharged as a Lance Corporal in 1969. After Vietnam, Robert Crabb returned to college where he earned a degree in 1974 and later worked in the Oil business until his retirement in 2000.
