Biographical / Historical
Howard E. Beck was born in 1944 in Leavenworth, KS. He volunteered for the United States Marine Corp in 1965. Beck served six years with one of those years in Vietnam. He was assigned to multiple units during his military career including H&S Company, 1st Anti-Tank Battalion, November 1965 to Oct 1966, A company 1st Anti-Tank Battalion, October 1966 to February 1967, and Headquarters, 9th Marine Corps District, Kansas City, Mo, February 1967 to August 1968. Beck held the position of Personnel Administration while in the Marine Corp during Vietnam. While in Vietnam he was stationed at Chli Lai and Danang and participated in operations Fresno, Glenn, Golden Fleece, Hot Springs, Jackson, Monterey, Morgan, Nevada, Texas, Wyoming, Kansas, and Sterling. During his military career he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Navy Presidential Unit Citation. He was finally discharged in 1971 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his military, Beck pursued a degree in Architecture and is now a registered architect.
