Biographical / Historical
Charles Campbell was born July 1, 1938 in Sparta, Wisconsin. He was drafted by the US Army in July 1966. He served two years, one of which was spent in Vietnam. He was assigned to the 12th Evacuation Hospital for 8 months at Cu Chi, Vietnam and with the 93rd Evacuation Hospital for 4 months at Long Binh, Vietnam. Campbell worked as a Nurse Anesthetist. His unit was involved in Operations Manhattan, Junction City, Cedar Falls, and the Tet Offensive, Operation Attleboro. Campbell received a Distinguished Unit Citation. During his service he was promoted from 1st Lieutenant to Captain. He was discharged in 1968. After the war, Campbell practiced Anesthesia in rural Wisconsin hospitals.
