Scope and Contents
Over 500 books concerning a variety of Vietnam War related topics donated to the Vietnam Archive by Welch Warren.
Biographical / Historical
Welch Warren was born in 1943 at Canton, N.C. He was initially drafted into military service in 1966, but later volunteered to serve again in the Army, with the Army Security Agency. Warren was enlisted for 4 years in the Army, and spent one year of that time in Southeast Asia at Nha Trang, Vietnam. He served with the 313th Radio Research Battalion, HQ Co., working as a manual interceptor and Instructor of Communications Security. Warren was involved in several small combat encounters during 1968's Tet Offensive, and throughout the year thereafter. His citations include the Army Commendation Medal, Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, and South Vietnamese Medal. Warren was discharged with the rank of E5 in 1972. Following his military career, Warren worked for Pacific Bell as a mid-level manager, and is a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
