Scope and Contents

Approximately half a linear foot of slides, negatives, and photographs primarily taken by Franklin (Nick) Nickerson in Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand while he service with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO).

Biographical / Historical

Franklin 'Nick' Nickerson was born on June 28, 1945 in Morgantown, WV. He volunteered to serve with the US Army in 1966. Of his three years of service, two were spent in Southeast Asia after completion of Basic Training and Photo Training. Nickerson served with with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office, and was stationed at Ft. Shaftner, Hawaii; Saigon, Vietnam; Seoul, South Korea; and Bangkok, Thailand. While in Southeast Asia, he worked as a Documentary/Combat Photographer and as a Film Soundman. Nickerson held the rank of PFC-E5 during his service overseas.
