Scope and Contents
Book titled The Rescue of River City by Drew Dix documents Dix's heroics with Special Forces while leading a group from the South Vietnamese Provincial Reconnaissance Unit (PRU) in recapturing Chau Phu from the Viet Cong during the Tet Offensive, 31 January - 1 February 1968. Dix's exploits during the 56 hour skirmish earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Biographical / Historical
Drew Dix was born in West Point, New York in 1944 and was raised in Pueblo, Colorado. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 and joined Special Forces three years later. Dix received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his exploits leading a group from the South Vietnamese PRU in recapturing Chau Phu from the Viet Cong during the Tet Offensive, 31 January - 1 February 1968. Dix later received a commission as an officer in the United States Army and retired with the rank of Major in 1982.
