Approximately half a linear foot of books, clippings, military documents, and a photograph document Charles B. Prewitt's service during the Vietnam War as a chaplain in the United States Air Force.

Biographical / Historical

Charles B. Prewitt was born in 1930 at Ponca City, Oklahoma. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Air Force, and became a Protestant Base Chaplain during the Vietnam. Prewitt was assigned to the 14th Air Commando Wing between December 1965 and November 1966 at Nha Trang. He served one year in Vietnam at the rank of Captain, and received the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. Prewitt continued to serve as a USAF Chaplain through his retirement in 1980 ending his twenty-year military career as a Lieutenant Colonel.
