Scope and Contents

Less than a quarter of a linear foot of material documenting John H. Lamb's service in Vietnam. The collection contains a VHS tape with a presentation made by Major John H. Lamb, USAF (Ret.) at the Pima Air and Space Museum on 27 May 2006 titled 'A-37s in Vietnam.' There is also a DVD with footage from his service and a photocopy of a photo of a detachment of the 4th SOS at Phan Rang Air Base.

Biographical / Historical

John H. Lamb served in Vietnam for two tours. He served in 1968 to 1969 with the 4th Special Operations Squadron where he was a pilot in an AC-47 "Spooky" gunship at Phan Rang Air Base, Binh Thuy and in Udorn Thailand. From 1970 through 1970 he served with the 604th Special Operations Squadron / 8th Special Operations Squadron as a pilot, instructor pilot and a weapons and tactics officer in Bien Hoa. He flew the A-37 Dragonfly. During his service, Lamb flew 400 combat missions (250 in Cambodia) and he participated in Operation Lam Son 719.
