Scope and Contents
The collection consists of documents, including articles and clippings about Vietnam and particularly the role played by the United States Air Force (USAF); a Marine Corps Educational Center 1965 manual on the USAF; books; two commemorative wall plaques of F-105s; lithographs and a watercolor painting of the Cham Temple outside of Phan Rang; a music record; a newsletter; and 508 photographs taken in 1968-1969 at Phan Rang Air Force Base during Paul Minert's tour. The materials are dated 1965-1976, 1992, and 1999.Biographical / Historical
Paul Minert was born in 1947 in Ames, Iowa. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and served for 20 years. He served with the 35th Supply Squadron, 35th Security Police Squadron stationed at Phan Rang Airbase in Vietnam from September 1968 to March 1969, when he was medically evacuated due to a broken arm. He held various positions during his time in Vietnam including air base supply, material facilities, and security police. Minert retired in 1987 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.- 1
