Less than one linear foot of correspondence from John Fanning to his family members during his service as an advisor with MAAG, G2 Adviser Section, 525th Military Intelligence Group, stationed in Pleiku in the Central Highlands (II Corps), 1963-1964. Less than a linear foot of photographs, negative, slides, military documents, articles, periodicals, Vietnamese currency, and a map document John P. Fanning's service as an adviser.Biographical / Historical
John P. Fanning was born in 1936 in New Jersey. He received his ROTC commission in 1958 for the United States Army. Fanning had a total of six years of service with one year in Vietnam. He was assigned to S-2, 525th Military Intelligence Group (525th MI Group), Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, in 1962 and was G-2 Training Adviser, MAAG Vietnam, II Corps, Pleiko in 1963 to 1964. Fanning held the position of an adviser. He separated from the army in 1964 at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After Vietnam Fanning become an attorney and worked with the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.- 4
