Donald K. Reid's memoirs of his service in the United States Army and his tour of duty in Vietnam, 1970-1971.
Biographical / Historical
Donald K. Reid was born 14 December 1950 at Clovis, NM. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970. He served in Southeast Asia from March 1970-August 1971. Reid was stationed with III Corps, and served with the 227th AHB, 1st Air Cavalry (August 1970-March 1971) and the 1/12th Cavalry, 1st Air Cavalry (March 1971-September 1971). He was a doorgunner and an infantryman while in Vietnam. Reid entered service in Southeast Asia as E-3, or Private First Class. By his discharge on 1 November 1971, he attained the rank of E-5, or Sergeant. Following his service, Reid worked for Firestone Tire, Inc., and is a member of the VFW.
