Biographical / Historical
Dr. Patricia Smith founded Minh Quy Hospital in Kontum in the Vietnamese Central Highlands in 1959 to grant medical service to the poor in the area, primarily the Montagnards. She founded the hospital with support from the Catholic Church and people from her home state of Washington. The volunteer staff was forced to leave the hospital at the conclusion of the war in 1975, but they continue to meet to this day to try to support the people of the Highlands.
