Scope and Contents
CD and DVD contains film footage, diaries, and military recrds that document Edward Benavidez's service in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, September 1965-September 1966; Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, September 1966-September 1967; and Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 27th Marines, February 1968-September 1968. The DVD contains music from AFVN and commentary by Adrian Cronauer.
Biographical / Historical
Edward Benavidez first served in the United States Marines Corps from 1958-1962. In September 1965 he re-enlisted and served with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in Vietnam until September 1966. He extended his Vietnam tour and was then with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines until September 1967. He then went to Camp Pendleton, California, but volunteered to return to Vietnam in February 1968 as a result of the Tet Offensive. He served there with Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 27th Marines until he was honorably discharged in September 1968.
