'The History of the Involvement of the Montagnards of the Central Highlands in the Vietnam War' by Michael D. Benge, 2010.Biographical / Historical
Michael D. Benge served with the International Voluntary Services (IVS) in Vietnam from 1963-1964. He then became a USAID Rural Affairs Provincial Development Officer, primarily working with the Montagnards in Darlac Province. Benge was the senior civilian in CORDs in Darlac Province when he was captured by the North Vietnamese in 1968. He spent the next five years in Hanoi as a POW until his release in 1973. After his release, he remained in Vietnam as an advisor to the Minister of Ethnic Minorities in South Vietnam until its fall in 1975.- 2
