A copy of the book Peacemaking Under Fire: A Vietnam War Memoir by John ArnoldBiographical / Historical
Born in 1950 in Dayton, Ohio, John Arnold volunteered for the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and served for three (3) years. After training, he was assigned to the Communications Platoon, Headquarters Company, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division and stationed at An Hoa, Vietnam. He was later stationed at Hill 37 and Marine Combat Base Baldy where he earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations before being discharged in 1971 with the rank of E4. After Vietnam, John Arnold worked for the state of Illinois until he retired in 2010. He is a member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War.- 1
