Biographical / Historical
Born in 1942 in Champaign, Illinois, Stewart Harris volunteered for the United States Navy in 1964 and served for five (5) years. After training, he was assigned to the USS Black and later to the USS Davis with the rank of Ensign. He served as both Gunfire Control Officer and as a Communications Officer. Stewart Harris was later transferred to Coastal Group 16 where he served as Senior Advisor while being stationed in Eastern Quang Ngai Province and later at Song Ve, Vietnam. He saw combat while earning multiple medals, ribbons and commendations before being discharged in 1969 with the rank of Lt. After Vietnam, Stewart Harris worked in Technical Sales.
