Scope and Contents
Navy blue cloth jacket worn by Admiral Zumwalt. The jacket has a United States Sixth fleet patch and a name plate with E. R. Zumwalt Jr. Admiral USN, C.N.O. sewn to the proper left front panel of the jacket.
Biographical / Historical
Born in 1946 in Goose Creek, Texas, John Mays volunteered for the United States Navy in 1969 and served for six (6) years. After training, he was assigned to the USS Sand Lance with an MOS of MM (Machinist Mate) ELT and was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. John Mays was discharged in 1975 with the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. After his service, he worked in several oilfield related industries.
