Scope and Contents

Nine canisters of super 8 film and a DVD showing images from Skip Tannery's tour in Vietnam. The films show Saigon, Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, Phan Rang Air Base, Vietnam troop drops, the Super Jolly Green helicopter, and the Tet Offensive and cover the time period from April, 1967 to February, 1968. They are contained in a metal box. The DVD is a compilation of all of the films set to music from the 1960's and clips of an interview with radio DJ Adrian Cronauer.

Biographical / Historical

Skip Tannery was born in Lubbock Texas in 1946. He served the U.S. Air Force for 7 years from 1966 to 1974, and 1 year in Vietnam (South East Asia) from April 1967 to Feb 1968 at Tan Son Air Force Base in Saigon as part of the 19th Air Commando Squadron. Tannery was an aircraft mechanic on C-123k aircrafts, and was designated as Assistant Crew Chief as an Airman Second Class (A2C). He participated in the TET offensive in 1968 and received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam. Tannery was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant (E-5) in December 1974
