Scope and Contents
CD-ROM containing a unit history for the 254th Medical Detachment (HA) Dustoff. The document also includes lists of unit members, helicopters used on missions, reminiscences and numerous photos of different unit members.
Biographical / Historical
Born in 1947 in Washington, D.C., Barry Grubbs volunteered for the United States Army in 1965 and served for four (4) years. After training, he was assigned to the 8th Field Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade, 43rd Medical Group with an MOS of Field Medic and later Flight Medic. His base of operations was Nha Trang, Vietnam but he also served Bao Loc, Bam Me Thuot, and Phan Thiet while holding the rank of E4. Barry Grubbs saw combat during the Tet Offensive while earning multiple medals, ribbons, and commendations including the Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1969 with the rank of E5. After Vietnam, Barry Grubbs returned to college and earned a degree in Biology. He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.
