Scope and Contents

Two electronic media donated by Frances Reynolds to document his service in Vietnam in the Marines from 1966 - 1967. The first item is a CD-ROM containing digital images of CH-37 helicopters. The second item is a DVD with film footage of CH-37 helicopters flying in northern I Corps. It includes footage of the DMZ, Con Thien, the Rockpile, the valley on the way to Khe Sanh, Dong Ha, Hue and Quang Tri.

Biographical / Historical

Francis T. Reynolds was born in 1939, and volunteered for the USHC in 1962. He served in the U.S. military for a total of 23 years, 13 months of which were spent as a pilot in Southeast Asia from April of 1966 to May of 1967. During his tour he was stationed at Marble Mountain, Dong Ha. Throughout his service in Southeast Asia he held the ranks of 1st Lieutenant and Captain. Mr. Reynolds was involved in many operations including Operation Hastings in July of 1966. During the last five years of his military service, Reynolds became a U.S. Army National Guard OH-6 Pilot. He retired at the rank of Major in 1986, with 20 air medals. After retiring from the military, Mr. Reynolds worked as a lawyer. He currently belongs to the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and Pop A Smoke Association.
