Scope and Contents
Approximately one linear foot of letters written home, photographs, Vietnamese currency, and a map document Alfred Alvarez's service in Vietnam with the First Cavalry Division from March 1967 - March 1968. The collection contains Alvarez's original letters as well as a booklet and CD where he compiled and typed all of the letters he sent home to his parents during his tour of duty.Biographical / Historical
Alfred Alvarez served in Vietnam with the First Cavalry Division from March 1967 - March 1968 as a door gunner, crew chief, and flight engineer in a Chinook helicopter. He was involved in the Battle of Dak To, November 1967, as well as in the Battle of Hue during the Tet Offensive 1968.- 1
