Biographical / Historical

Born in 1948 in Easton, Pennsylvania, Ronald Lauer volunteered for the United States Army in 1967 and served for three (3) years. After training, he was assigned to the 1st Air Cavalry HHC 2nd Battalion, Aviation Maintenance Section and later to the 3rd ACFS Maintenance Battalion where his MOS was a Door Gunner on a Huey Helicopter. Seeing combat in the Tet Offensive and other engagements, Ronald Lauer earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations before being discharged in 1970 with the rank of E5. After Vietnam, he taught school for 28 years before retiring in 2003.
