Biographical / Historical
Michael Hebert was born on 15 July 1947 in Los Angeles California. He volunteered for the U.S. Army on 15 October 1965. He served five years in the Army with two tours in Vietnam. On his first tour (August 1967 to August 1968), Lieutenant Hebert was a platoon leader, first with the 716th Military Police Battalion and later with B Troop, 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division. He was involved in the 1968 Tet Offensive and was stationed in the Saigon Area, Bearcat, LZ Apple, Blackhorse, I Corps, Dong Ha, Da Nang, LZ Hardcore, Wunder Beach, and Street Without Joy (Route 1 between Hue and Quang Tri). On his second tour (January 1970 to October 1970), Captain Hebert served with MACV Team 16 (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) at Tam KY, Quang Tin Province, which included two unit moves.
