Scope and Contents
Approximately 490 slides taken by Forrest Lindley during his tour tours in Vietnam. The slides show villages, children, Vietnamese men and women working in rice fields, military operations, ARVN troops, and military bases.
Biographical / Historical
Forrest B. Lindley joined the Army in 1967 and attended the U.S. Army Artillery and Missile Officer Candidate School at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and then attended paratrooper training. He served two tours in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. During his first tour he was a 2nd Lieutenant with the 101st Airborne Division. He served in the 5th Special Forces Group for his second tour and was a captain. During his military career he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Master Parachute Badge, Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, and the Vietnamese Special Forces Jump Wings.
