Scope and Contents
One CD-ROM containing a copy of Edward Willer's memoir titled I Was Shotgun One Three. The memoir covers Willer's service with the 221st Reconnaissance Airplane Company from July 1965 through July 1966.
Biographical / Historical
Born in Concord, North Carolina in 1941, Edward Willer volunteered for the United States Army in 1963 and served for four years. After training, he was sent to flight school and was later assigned to the 221st RAC. He was stationed in the Mekong Delta in IV Corps and later at Vinh Long, Soc Trang, and Rach Gia, Vietnam while holding the rank of 1st Lt. Edward Willer saw combat while flying fixed wing aircraft as an Observation Pilot. During his tours, he earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations before being discharged in 1966. After Vietnam, Edward Willer became a Real Estate Broker.
