Scope and Contents
Three copies of a Safe Return Christmas card donated by James McKenzie. The card calls for the safe return of all war resisters underground or in prison for the 1974 holiday season.
Biographical / Historical
Born in 1940 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, James McKenzie volunteered for the United States Army in 1962 and served for four (4) years. After training, he was assigned to the US Army Hospital in Fort Campbell Kentucky with an MOS of Operating Room Technician. He was later stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Fort Knox, Kentucky and Honolulu, Hawaii while holding the rank of E4 before being discharged in 1965. After the military, James McKenzie returned to college and earned a PHD degree in English at Notre Dames University. He is a member of Veterans For Peace.
