Scope and Contents
Approximately three linear feet of flight logs, naval administrative documents, certificates, citations, correspondence, diary copies, books, cruisebooks, articles, maps, photographs, postcards, and a patch document Rear Admiral Jeremy Taylor's 36 year career in the United States Navy from 1955-1992, particularly his service as an A-4 Skyhawk pilot with Attack Squadron 113 (Stingers) aboard the USS ENTERPRISE, 1966-1968, where he flew bombing missions over North Vietnam.
Biographical / Historical
Jeremy (Bear) Taylor was born in Pontiac, Michigan in 1935. He was raised in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland before enlisting in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviation Cadet in 1955. From 1966-1968, Taylor flew A-4 Skyhawks on bombing missions over North Vietnam with Attack Squadron 113 (Stingers) while serving aboard the USS ENTERPRISE. Taylor's operational commands included an A-7 Corsair attack squadron, a carrier wing, the replenishment oiler USS KALAMAZOO, the aircraft carrier USS CORAL SEA, and the Strike Fighter Wing of the Pacific Fleet. He also served four tours on the Chief of Naval Operations' staff in Washington, DC, which included a stint as Director of Naval Aviation Plans and Requirements, 1988-1992. Taylor retired from the Navy in 1992 with the Rank of Rear Admiral (Upper Half) and then managed the Ogden City, Utah airport until retiring again in 2002.
