Scope and Contents

Approximately two linear feet of Defense Technical Information Center (Defense Logistics Agency) technical reports, Indochina Refugee Authored Monograph Program documents, and various other published documents detail various aspects of the Vietnam Conflict. Materials are organized by subject and primarily in English. All documents date from the American involvement in Vietnam through the immediate post-war period and are in fair to good condition.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Earl H. Tilford, Jr. has been Director of Research at SSI since 1993. Previously he served as a professor at the Air Command and Staff College. Dr. Tilford retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1989, and in his career he served as an intelligence officer, an instructor at the Air Force Academy, and was editor of Air University Review. An internationally acknowledged authority on air power employment and military history, Dr. Tilford is the author of three books, the latest being Crosswinds: The Air Force's Setup in Vietnam and a co-edited work, Eagle in the Desert: A Look Back at the U.S. Military in the Persian Gulf, published by Greenwood Press in 1996. Dr. Tilford has authored numerous articles and conference papers. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in History from the University of Alabama, and his Ph.D. in History from George Washington University.
