Scope and Contents
Slides and photographs donated to the archive by John F. Sloan. The photos show various activities from the Engineer Section of II Field Force Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.
Biographical / Historical
Born in 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, John Sloan volunteered for the United States Army in 1951 beginning at West Point and serving for over twenty (20) years. In Vietnam, he was assigned to HQ IT Field Force with the rank of major. His MOS was an Intelligence Engineer Officer with the II FFV Liaison Corps in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. He saw combat action during the Tet Offensive in 1968 which earned him the US Army Air Medal. John Sloan retired in 1976 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After Vietnam, John Sloan served as the Chief SOV Ground Branch DIA, GS13 Army ACSI and Adjunt Professor NPGS. He is a member of the DAV.
