Scope and Contents
Over six hundred slides, a map, and a thumb drive donated to the archive by Ron McGrath. The slides are images of Da Nang in 1970 and Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base and Bangkok in 1972. The images were taken by McGrath during his time as a forward air controller and an F-4 pilot.
Biographical / Historical
Born in 1942 in Portland, Oregon, Ronald McGrath volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1962 and served for twenty (20) years. After training, he was assigned to the 469th TFS (Tactical Fighter Squadron) and later to the 368th TFS while holding the rank of Captain. He held an MOS as a Forward Air Controller while being stationed at Da Nang Air Base, Vietnam. Ronald McGrath earned multiple medals, ribbons, and commendations before retirement. After Vietnam, Ronald McGrath was employed by several businesses including the State of Texas.
