The collection consists of approximately a quarter of a linear foot of textual records accumulated by Frederick Ford during his service as a US Air Force Captain active in the Concerned Officers Movement while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC from December 1970 to February 1972. The materials include newspapers, newsletters, a history of Bragg Briefs; clippings; flyers; factsheets; position papers; press releases; a Counter Armed Forces Day speech by Frederick Ford (May 15, 1971); Concerned Officers Movement mailing lists; correspondence (e.g. regarding the placement of a COM ad in the Washington Post; requests to be added to the signed petition to be advertised in the Washington Post; urging President Nixon to withdraw from Vietnam; regarding Counter Armed Forces Day; regarding anti-war sentiments; regarding COM activities; recruiting COM members; requests to join COM; negative reactions from some officers whose names were used in the petition published in the Washington Post; a request for COM to help Senator Birch Bayh seek the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination in 1972; regarding COM lawsuits against the US Army); signed petitions; Washington Post ad copy; the transcript of an audio recorded speech by Congressman Ron Dellums (April 13, 1971); the testimony of Lieutenant John Kerry for the Vietnam Veterans Against the War before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (April 22, 1971); POW’s Withdrawal Key to Prisoner Release (booklet); and manuals detailing GI’s legal rights.
