Biographical / Historical
Born in 1948, Rex Gooch volunteered for the United States Army through the ROTC program and served for four (4) years. In Southeast Asia and Vietnam his rank was 1st Lt while serving with an MOS as a Helicopter pilot. He was attached to the C/3 17th Air Cavalry, the 18th Aviation Co. and the 17th Aviation Group while stationed at Can Tho and Pleiku, Vietnam. During his service he earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations before being discharged in 1974. After the military, Rex worked in Human Resources dealing with compensations and benefits in the private sector. He is a member of both the VVA and the VHPA organizations. Rex published a book about Lt. Col. Ace Cozzalio in 2015.
