Biographical / Historical
Born in 1930 in Shipbottom New Jersey, Bruce Swafford volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1949 and served more than twenty 20 years. While serving in Southeast Asia and Vietnam his rank was Master Sgt. with an MOS as an Engineer Technician. He worked in aircraft revetments and housing construction and was stationed at Ton Son Nhut airport in Saigon and later in Bangkok Thailand. During this period, he earned multiple medals, ribbons and commendations for his service. Bruce retired as a Senior Master Sgt. in 1969 and then worked for an engineering company in Hawaii and the US Army Corp of Engineers until 1997. He is a life member of the DAV.
