The collection consists of less than a quarter of a linear foot of materials documenting Patrick McDermott's service with Company A, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. The material includes artifacts, photographs, and a statement of casualty detailing McDermott's accidental death. The materials are dated 1966.
Biographical / Historical
Patrick McDermott was born in 1945 in New York, NY. He began a tour of Vietnam in April 1966. He died on November 9, 1966 in Vietnam as the result of multiple metal fragment wounds. He was attempting to remove a projectile of a 20 MM round from its casing when the round detonated.
