Scope and Contents
The collection consists of approximately 2.5 linear feet of documents accumulated by William L. Myers. The collection contains files about specific battles, operations, or incidents where Marines were either wounded or awarded a medal for their actions. The files contain folders of documents about the Marine unit involved in the combat, and folders of documents containing information about individual soldiers in the unit. These files contain after action reports, unit rosters and reports, military service records, medal and award citations, written accounts of battles, and correspondence between Myers and various individuals and institutions during the course of his research. These materials were used to write his book Marines, Medals and Vietnam, a copy of which is also included in the collection.
