Scope and Contents
The collection consists of USIS photographs accumulated by CM/Sgt. H. O. Johnson. The photographs are undated.
Biographical / Historical
CM/Sgt. Herbert O. Johnson was born in 1920 in Livermore, Iowa. His military career spans two branches and 30 years of active duty service. He served with the U.S. Marines from 1942-1946 and then the USMC Reserves from 1946-1948. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He retired from active duty in 1974 at SAC Headquarters, Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. CM/Sgt. Johnson served during WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed on Guam and the Phillipines.

CM/Sgt. Johnson received numerous commendations and letters acknowledging his outstanding military service. He is buried at the National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR.
