181 slides document Lee Beavers' service with the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, first with the 18th Assault Helicopter Company (Bien Hoa, June-December 1968) and then with the 120th Assault Helicopter Company (Tan Son Nhut-Saigon, December 1968-July 1969).
Biographical / Historical
Lee Beavers was born in 1947 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1967. He served one tour in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, Warrant Officer 1, first with the 118th Assault Helicopter Company (Bien Hoa, June-December 1968) and 120th Assault Helicopter Company (Tan Son Nhut-Saigon, December 1968-July 1969). He served a total of 13 years (5 years active service ended in 1972 ; 8 years with the Army Guard) as a helicopter pilot, aircraft commander and gunnery instructor. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Warrant Officer 2.

While in the army he was an instructor/evaluator for the flight school at Fort Wolters, Texas. When his army service ended, he attended college and then was a teacher in the Denver Public School system (8 years). Following that he was a pilot for Jefferson County Sheriff's Department (5 years), and then was with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an air traffic controller (13 years) and a RADAR electronics technician (8 years).
