Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately a quarter of a linear foot of materials accumulated by Karl Lippard. The materials include records pertaining to the Ca De River Bridge Battle and the actions of the USS Craig and the USS Stoddard (July 28-29, 1965), as well as the Battle of La Bong/Hill 22 and the actions of the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines (October 30, 1965). Also included are a timeline marking other Vietnam battles in which III MAF engaged during 1965, a book written by Karl Lippard, and an oral history conducted with Karl Lippard. The materials are dated 1964-1966, 1982-1983, 1986-1988, and 2017-2020.

Biographical / Historical

USMC Sergeant Karl Lippard served in Vietnam in 1965 as a machine gun team leader with H Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, and later with M Company 3rd Battalion, 9th Regiment.
