Scope and Contents
Less than a quarter of a linear foot of materials consisting of one copy of 1st Signal Brigade Aviation Vietnam History 1962-1972 by David Anderson Satellite 33 and materials pertaining to MIA CW3 Larry Zich and the recovery of his remains. The materials include correspondence and articles/clippings. The materials are dated 2021 and 2023.
Biographical / Historical
David A. Anderson was born August 13th, 1948. He volunteered in 1966 for the ROTC and became active duty for the United States Army in 1970. Anderson served for a total of five and a half years including one year in Southeast Asia. He was a signal officer in the 385th Signal Company in 1970. From 1970-1971 he attended helicopter flight school at Ft. Wolters and Ft. Rucker. Anderson served as a part of the 1st Signal Brigade Aviation Attachment. In Vietnam he held the rank of 1st Lieutenant and served at Long Thanh North as a rotary wing aviator, aviation safety officer, assistant operations officer, mess officer, and he worked with flight scheduling. Anderson was involved with the Easter Offensive and the closure of Long Thanh North airfield in 1972. After Vietnam Anderson served three and a half years as a project test pilot with the aviation test board at Ft. Rucker, Alabama from 1972-1975. Anderson received multiple awards including a bronze star and air medal. In 1975 he retired as a Captain. After his service Anderson became a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and worked with avionics equipment tests as an electronic test engineer for Teradyne and he retired as a manager of Teradyne in the circuit test division.
