Biographical / Historical
Charles W. Hunt dropped out of college early in 1967 and joined the Navy Reserves in hopes of staying out of combat in Vietnam. In 1969, the Navy sent him to South Vietnam where he spent 345 days as Engineman and aft gunner on a fifty-foot patrol boat. Petty Officer Hunt was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V for courage under fire.

He returned home and honed his technical skills repairing automobiles, becoming a master technician with the Ford Motor Company. In 1972, he married his wife Claire. The couple has three children.
