Scope and Contents

The collection consists of less than a quarter of a linear foot of materials documenting Rear Admiral Frederick F. Palmer's U.S. Navy service before, during, and after the Vietnam War, including his time with Amphibious Squadron Two, his service as Commander of Attack Carrier Air Wing Fourteen, and his service as Chief of U.S. Naval Reserve. The materials include event invitations; photographs; news clippings; event programs; correspondence; and ephemera. The materials are dated 1952-1955, 1962-1967, 1982, 1986, and 1994.

Biographical / Historical

Frederick Fraser Palmer (July 14, 1925 – January 2, 1992) was a rear admiral in the United States Navy. He was Chief of the United States Naval Reserve from September 1978 until October 1982. Prior to that he was the Commandant of the Fourth Naval District headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. His awards included the Navy Cross, Silver Star and Distinguished Flying Cross.
