Scope and Contents
Eight audiotapes and one audio CD of recordings made by Bill Noyes during his tour of duty in Vietnam, September 1968 to September 1969. Also included in the collection is another CD with photographs taken by Noyes during his tour of duty as well.
Biographical / Historical
Bill Noyes was born in Sanfrancisco, California. He was drafted into the Army in December of 1967. He attended basic training at Ft. Lewis, and then trained at Fot. Polk. He served in Vietnam from September 1968 to September 1969 in B Company, 3rd Platoon, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Mechanized Infantry in the 25th Infantry Division. Noyes was a light weapons infantryman and served 40 miles north of Saigon in the jungles and rubber plantations surrounding Dau tieng and Nay Ninh. For his service he was awarded a Bronze Star with merit, a Silver Star for valor and the Combat Infantryman Badge. After his service in Vietnam, Noyes attended San Jose State and earned a B.A. in Philosophy.
