The collection consists of approximately 6 linear feet of materials documenting Gunnery Sergeant Richard V. Neely's USMC service with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in Vietnam. The materials include artifacts and a manual for courts-martial. The materials are dated 1956 or are otherwise undated.
Biographical / Historical
Richard V. Neely served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1964 to 1967. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1967 until his retirement in 1989. He did a tour in Vietnam with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. He began as an electrician with 26 months' time in grade as an E-2 (Private First Class), eventually rising to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
