Scope and Contents
The collection consists of approximately three linear feet of materials documenting Eileen O'Neill's service with the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas (aka Donut Dollies) in Vietnam from 1971-1972. The materials include maps; welcome and sayonara books; sketches; propaganda leaflets; flyers/pamphlets; clippings; event programs/agendas; sunshine books/cards; short timer calendars; travel orders; schedules and calendars; memos and correspondence; surveys; speeches; documents re: Agent Orange (e.g. clippings, fact sheets, testimonies, petition to be included in settlement); songbook; slides; and ephemera. Also included are slides taken by O'Neill's husband John Windsor while serving with C Company 15th Engineer Battalion 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam in July 1969.
Biographical / Historical
Eileen O'Neill served as a Donut Dolly in Vietnam with the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas from 1971-1972. She was stationed at Danang (with TDY to Bien Hoa), Phan Rang Air Base (with TDY to Binh Thuy) and Binh Thuy. During her time in Vietnam, she also spent periods of leave and R&R in Bangkok; Singapore; Sydney, Australia; and Hong Kong.

O'Neill's husband John Windsor served in Vietnam in July 1969 with C Company, 15th Engineer Battalion, 9th Infantry Division. He worked to build a rocket shelter and to help with clean up efforts following an NVA and Viet Cong rocket and mortar attack on a village.
