Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the Americal Division's Old Glory (the U.S. flag which flew over Americal Division Headquarters in Chu Lai), an article detailing the flag's provenance and conservation, and materials related to the 13 KIA from the 23rd Military Police Company (e.g. memorial service remarks, personal recollections, images, clippings, correspondence, sketches, casualty reports). Also included is a USB flash drive containing copies of the 23rd MP Chapter, Americal Division Veterans Association newsletter The Blotter from 2007-2022 (Volumes 1-15, 60 issues). The materials are dated 1969-1971, 2000-2001, and 2007-2022.

Biographical / Historical

Captain Dale A. Meisel served as First Platoon Leader with the 23rd Military Police Company and as Operations Officer for Americal Division Provost Marshal Lieutenant Colonel Everett I. Perrin, Jr. from 1970-1971. Stationed at Chu Lai and Duc Pho, Meisel's duties included working at the POW camp at LZ Bronco.
