Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately one linear foot of museum objects, documents, maps, periodicals, newspapers, a photo and a DVD documenting Loren Hall's service in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot from 1967-1969 and again from 1970-1971. He served with the 134th Assault Helicopter Company (1967-1968); the 48th Assault Helicopter Company and 1st Aviation Brigade (1968-1969); C Company, 101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Division (1970-1971); and the 2nd Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (1971).

The museum objects include a duffle bag, a set of fatigues, and several unit patches, pins, and ribbons. The documents include personal military service documents; guides to Vietnam; R&R information packets for Japan and Sidney, Australia; Warrant Officer Candidate Student Guide; Fort Wolters Helicopter School guide; and United States Army Aviation welcome packet.

Biographical / Historical

Captain Loren Hall volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1965 and served 13+ years. For 2-1/2 years he was stationed in South Vietnam where he was stationed in II Corps at Phu Hiep Army Airfield and Bien Hoa Air Base, and in I Corps at Phu Bai Airfield. While in Vietnam, Hall served in the 134th Assault Helicopter Company (1967-1968); the 8th Assault Helicopter Company and the 1st Aviation Brigade (1968-1969); C Company, 101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Division (1970-1971); and the 2nd Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (1971).

Hall was a helicopter gunship pilot and held various leadership positions, including platoon leader, pilot instructor, brigade aviation section commander, and more. He participated in the 1968 Tet Offensive and Lam Son 719 in 1971. Hall was discharged at the rank of Captain in 1979. His awards include the Bronze Star.
