Scope and Contents
The collection consists of approximately one linear foot of materials documenting Captain Michael Robert Ross' USMC service as commanding officer of D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines in Quang Tri Province and the A Shau Valley, where he advised Civilian Irregular Defense Group (CIDG) companies. Captain Ross was killed in action on 13 May 1969 at Fire Support Base Erskine. The materials include photographs; postcards; memos and correspondence; pamphlets; guides; booklets; handouts; periodicals; casualty reports; notes; award citations; travel vouchers; leave authorization forms; military orders/battery orders; rosters; officer fitness reports; service records; insurance papers; war trophy registration forms; directories; certificates; articles and clippings; maps; University of Colorado-Boulder records; electronic media; audio; and ephemera.
