The collection consists of approximately 4 linear feet of materials documenting Fred Banta's U.S. Army service with D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 4th Field Artillery Regiment; D Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment; and A and B Batteries, 6th Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment of the 9th Infantry Division, II Field Force, Vietnam; as well as C Battery, 1st Battalion, 6th Artillery, 1st Armored Division at Ft. Hood, TX. The materials include artifacts; flyers and pamphlets; handbooks; pay vouchers; receipts; travel vouchers; equipment registers; correspondence; letters of appreciation; notes; periodicals; military orders; physical fitness testing records; photographs; slides; directories; and ephemera. The materials are dated 1966-1970.
