Scope and Contents
The collection consists of approximately 4 linear feet of materials documenting 1st Lieutenant James Pfluger's U.S. Army service with the 321st Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery. The materials include artifacts; U.S. Military Academy course materials; bibliographies; program booklets; U.S. Army pamphlets, manuals, and handbooks; books; and a VHS cassette. The materials are dated 1956, 1960, 1965-1972, 1989, 2001-2002, 2006-2007, 2019.Biographical / Historical
James R. Pfluger was born in 1948. He joined the ROTC program while a student at Texas Tech University and was commissioned into the U.S. Army in December 1970. He served for four years on active duty and an additional two years in Army Reserve. His years of active duty were spent serving with the 82nd Airborne Division - first with the 2/321 Airborne Field Artillery (1971-1972) and then with HHB 82nd Division Artillery (1972-1974). He then transitioned to his reserve service with the 42nd Civil Affairs Company and the 28th Civil Affairs Company (Airborne) of the 95th Civil Affairs Group. During his service, he was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA; Ft. Sill, OK; and Ft. Bragg, NC.- 1
